I’m humbled and delighted that so many readers were inspired to help out by buying Unzipped on preorder or during the first five days. All proceeds from all retailers went to fire relief!

I donated the $26,117 to the following charities: North Valley Community Foundation, California Fire Foundation, Humane Society of Ventura County, Hopalong Animal Rescue, and The Wildland Firefighter Foundation. The biggest donation went to the California Fire Foundation, which distributes gifts cards for basic services, like food and medicine, for the families affected. I also wanted to support families of fallen firefighters, rebuilding in the local communities, as well as animal rescues that are helping pets lost or injured from the fires.
